To begin your vacation we first start off with a little background. New Zealand is made up of two main islands. The North Island and the South Island. With many smaller islands like Stewart Island and Chatam Island scattered around. Each island has it differences that makes them both stand out on there own. The South Island is the largest of the two islands, and is divided along its length by the Southern Alps. The North Island is not as mountainous, but is marked by volcanos, so you will see steam vents along the way, and where there is steam, you will find thermal pools. Almost everywhere you turn there is postcard pictures, so bring plenty of media cards for your camrea. All the pictures of New Zealand on this site was taken by me on some of my trips. All the beauty is probably why Lord of the Rings and the Last Samurai was filmed here.
You will quickly find out that the New Zealand Tourisim Board has supplied a never ending amount of activities that you can do while during your vacation. Anything from glacier helicopter rides, to jet boating on white water rapids, to mountain climbing, to jumping off a platform with a bungee strapped to your legs. The food of New Zealand is outstanding. From their Fish-N-Chips (real Fish-N-Chips) to the thier White Bait. New Zealand also as some of the finest wines. You have to find and goto a NZ Maori Hangi, not to mention the lamb and mutton. New Zealand has a few million sheep, more than the population.
